It’s been quite a long time since we last reviewed Limousine companies, and I found it is a great time to showcase the most luxurious way of getting to your hotel when landing at a certain place. My colleague Sebastian and me were up for a special surprise on this first post-pandemic trip that lasted longer than just a week. Flying into Athens was hassle-free thanks to Lufthansa not having a strike on that particular Friday morning. So we arrived ahead of time and as soon as we left the departure area of Athens International Airport we were already welcomed by George, our driver holding a plate with our names. He helped us with our light luggage and accompanied us to a beautiful black Mercedes S-Class. Soon after the luggage was stowed, we were offered water and the ride to Athens city centre was about to begin.
George started a little small talk to feel if we were interested in holding a conversation or not. Since we had our first day of vacation, we couldn’t have been more open to a good conversation and our driver immediately offered to do a short detour to show us the most beautiful view of Athens. The thing about hiking the Acropolis is that even if you have an amazing view of the city, you’re missing out on the city’s signature sight in your pictures. Hence George was driving us up on Lycabettus Hill to enjoy unparalleled views of Athens, the Parliament, the Acropolis and the sea on the horizon. What a start to a vacation that turned out to be the best and most beautiful of my life. We got a description of the view with a brief introduction to the most famous sights visible from Lycabettus hill and thoroughly enjoyed the views despite boiling temperatures of 42 degrees Celsius.
Back in the chilled Mercedes, we were about to head to Academias Hotel, our place to stay in Athens. We felt extremely safe and enjoyed the ride from the airport to the hotel.
