24 Hours at the Breidenbacher Hof, Dusseldorf

Being known all over Germany and the neighboring countries, Breidenbacher Hof has always been the number one address in Dusseldorf for a luxurious stay. Located right between the famous "Königsallee" and the river, this property is the perfect place to stay for business and leisure alike. Prior to our arrival we were contacted my one of the Personal Assistants who asked us for more information regarding our stay. I informed them of our early morning arrival due to our flight with Air Seychelles. We therefore arrived at the hotel at around 7.30 am whichh was kind of very early and the hotel was still peaceful and quiet. Upon approaching the main doors, we were greeting by the bellmen which immediately took care of the baggage. He showed us the way to the front desk where we were welcomed by a friendly lady who checked us in and accompanying us to the room directly.

To all my surprise the hotel set up an in-room breakfast as they thought we might be hungry after a 11 hours flight. And in fact it was the most amazing thing one could do for us. Even tough we were flying Business this time, I couldn't eat anything at 5am and was happy like a child when seeing german bread again! For a moment it felt like coming home: imagine your mother when you return home after a while - the first thing she wants to make sure is that nobody is hungry, because otherwise it gets on your mood. Breidenbacher Hof solved this in a very clever way - to make sure we are not in a bad mood. Fun aside, I really appreciated that and we continued to inspect our spacious double room overlooking Heinrich Heine Allee. The decor is very Capella (the brand which the Breidenbacher Hof is part of) like and everything is of highest quality plus state-of-the-art technology: There is a touch panel next to the bed built into the nightstand table which was quite cool.

Another nice touch was the spacious and elegant bathroom with bath tub, walk-in shower as well as a separate area for the toilet and bidet. All toiletries were by L'Occitane so not really the most exciting products however very nice smelling. They also provided us with toothbrushes and shavors within 10 minutes after having called the housekeeping plus removed the breakfast table timely after we left the room at noon - it's all about the little details because who wants to see the room service tray in the room all day long. It seems they forgot to pass by for turndown service but since we just stayed for a night and they provided two towels per person, this was absolutely not an issue. Anyways one can order anything else needed and the staff are happy to bring it to the room immediately.

There is also a wonderful spa area in the basement with a truly nice indoor pool and warmly designed furniture. The temperature of the pool was perfect as was the total atmosphere of the spa - well done! Next to the spa is a fitness center which again is done in a great way with latest equipment- a great place to work out after a long haul flight we found. While the regeneration part of the Breidenbacher Hof is very nice, the main highlight remains the "Living Room" - club lounge Breidenbacher Hof style to say it in a few words. Once you exit the elevators you access a big lobby-like hall where only guests staying at the hotel have access. Inside this area there is the concierge's desk where we met amazing Malte as well as a buffet with salty snacks, drinks and magazines - everything complimentary of course. I found this to be a nice add-on considering you would have been spending extra money on soft drinks and water.

While me and my colleagues thought that's it about the Breidenbacher Hof, we had to find out that the greates thing is yet to come. After an extremely heavenly sleep - their beds are really great - we headed towards breakfast served in the Brasserie on the first floor. At first sight the visible area of the buffet looked similar to the ones at other five stars but once we were seated, the real experience began. I experienced the BEST service I have ever had for any breakfast offered by the three friendly ladies who welcomed me by last name - I did not mention the room number (which I actually never did during my stay so I guess the staff must have pictures of their guests) and always (and I mean every second) provided attentive service. As soon as we both finished the plates, someone was here to clean the table and ask us if they may bring something else. The buffet turned out to be one of the best in Europe for my taste - for sure they have the best fruit selection in any german hotel plus I loved their meat offers including best roast beef, truffled veal liver spread and champagne. Everyone was on par and that would be the first buffet where I would be willing to pay Parisian prices (Hello Four Seasons George V where breakfast sets you back 60 euros per person!), however it was priced around 30 euros which is absolutely fair for given quality and service.

For me it was the perfect place to end our great one week trip starting in Paris, heading to the Seychelles before stopping by one of Germany's grand hotels. Their reputation is really great within the country and I can confirm they live up to this high standard. Every single staff member was beyond friendly and welcoming. They went the extra mile and it's wonderful to see hotels that still are flawless!
